It’s been almost a year since I started facilitating a journaling group at Hunterdon County Library’s main branch. I love libraries! They’ve been so gracious and generous, and there has always been something special about them. Here’s to another year.

REGISTER HEREI discovered when I first started doing workshops almost three years ago that these are intimate, safe spaces. Participants follow the writing wherever it takes us, and sometimes that is not such a comfortable place.
I’ve designed a workshop specifically for LGBTQ+ participants. As an older, married gay man myself, I know there are experiences unique to this community, and how difficult it can be to revisit, let alone share in a workshop setting, those events, people and experiences that shaped us – for better and sometimes for worse.
Still Here is intended to provide the space to go there. I’ll be doing one-off introductory workshops, and hopefully setting up some ongoing monthly workshops, much like the ones I already do at the New Hope Free Library and the Hunterdon County Library’s main branch. (And a biweekly in-person group in Lambertville, NJ).

A Twofer Book Reading with Author Kim Cook
Another good book reading
I did another two-author book reading yesterday in Lambertville, with Kim Cook. I ghost wrote her memoir, I Am My Father’s Child: A True Story of History, Mystery, Betrayal, and Forgiveness, and we discovered after doing this at Read Mill Books in Clinton, NJ, that people liked hearing about our working process. It was always supposed to be just Kim, since I’m now promoting her book and working with her on other pojects, but things sometimes go in unexpected direction.

On May 3rd, 2026, in Lambertville, New Jersey, two authors came together for an afternoon of storytelling, craft, and memoir. Mark McNease shared excerpts from Blank Page to Bookshelf: From First Sentence to First Sale — his guide to fiction writing, character creation, and self-publishing — and Kim Cook shared from her powerful memoir, I Am My Father’s Child: A True Story of History, Mystery, Betrayal, and Forgiveness.
